Our Home

When you walk in through the gate of our rustic paradise, you enter a world unto itself. Yet outside the gate you’re in the most sought after neighborhood in the Rocky Mountain West! This architecturally significant vernacular building is wonderfully rustic but has the modern amenities. The house has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths in the main section of the house, and an attached 1 bedroom/one bath cabin, huge decks, great gardens (including organic raspberries which are available in our freezer if you’re not here in summer! ) . Old world fixtures, claw foot tubs, floor-to-ceiling barn sash windows in bathrooms. Small rooms, low ceilings, exposed log perlins, plank floors and ceilings, hand scribed chinking. It has an Old World feeling to it and is truly unique.

I love to cook (gourmet, organic, wild and indigenous foods) so the kitchen has a good amount of counter space and clean and well functioning appliances (some new stainless) . We JUST replaced the cabinets, sink and countertops in the kitchen. It's fantastic!

Bring a book or borrow ours--we have an interesting collection of regional to international writers, particularly with environmental and conservation themes (many of them friends of ours). Relax and listen to one of the (over 1000) CD's (all genres, heavy on jazz, acoustic, classical) .

You'll not find a house like this one anywhere in the world. Everyone who sees it is charmed, with comments such as “This is the dream Wyoming house! ” This is not a luxury home‚ but is classy and cozy (the luthier who built both our guitars designed and built it--it's a work of art. ) . A large skylight over one of the main beds lets you moongaze in the Big Wyoming Sky. The “decor” reflects 25 years of living in Jackson Hole and going to every ranch estate sale/auction in the Old West, as well as 15 years touring nationally and internationally as music acts--and my love of gardening (lots of iron, distressed finishes and garden furniture) .

There are 7 small rooms in the living section of the house, and 3 more downstairs for playspace, laundry, etc. . . the house is an adventure in itself. There is also an attached cabin that has a separate entry. This is in addition to the three bedrooms/three baths in the larger section of the house. It is fully independent and might be included in the exchange or on it's own while we're here. We also can rent this apartment to you if you're interested.

There is a32" HDTV with DVD player in the master bedroom of the main house, and a smaller 20" HDTV with DVD in the attached cabin. We have WIFI and a 17" G4 Macbook pro which you can use to check email, etc...

It's a very unusual set up, and can fit a family of four perfectly, especially if two children share the bunk room. The downstairs bedroom is more separate--you access it from the outside and through the office--and has it's own private bathroom. In fact, each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The fourth bedroom is in the attached cabin, which may or may not be available. It's a mix-and-match situation!!

Our Neighborhood

We're in Wilson, 7 miles from Jackson Hole Ski resort, 3 miles to unparalleled back country skiing, 7 miles to town of Jackson (world class restaurants, shops, library, pool, many galleries. ) 9 miles to south boundary of Grand Teton/Yellowstone National Parks (see maps of the region) .

It’s an incredible environment any time of year. This is a unique place that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. For pictures of Jackson and northwest Wyoming, see numerous web sites by searching for Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole. Be sure to check out www. jhalliance. com, the local conservation group’s site.

The house is not in a subdivision, rather it's one of two small lots surrounded by 5 acre parcels, one of which is an historic ranch, 110 acres on the Snake River. Within 2 miles of our home (you can walk or ride down the newly constructed bike path which connects to Grand Teton National Park and Teton Village) are the following:
*Prime Snake River access point (1m)

Moose live in our yard in winter, in summer the Osprey nest 100ft off the back deck houses the same pair year after year. Bald eagles, blue herons, owls, trumpeter swans and many kinds of hawks are some of the birds you'll see from the deck (and often from the bathtub! ) . You'll hear coyotes howl and the Snake River rushing by from our back deck and our high back windows.

Other Information

If you think of Jackson Hole as only a destination ski resort, come and see it from another point of view. Certainly the skiing is unlike any other. By virtue of the immense amount of uncorrupted wild land in this area, there is so much more to this amazing place.

Thermal activity is high, and so there are numerous pure hot springs in which to bathe and relax in this region.

Spring in "the Hole" is the best kept secret of the century: Bison, elk and moose are calving; raptors are returning; don't forget trout season starts April 1; skiing is great with JH Mountain Resort going until April 6, and Grand Targhee--1. 5 hrs away in Alta, WY--until April 13 and back country skiing often still good in mid-May. Fall is magical too. Very few tourists, and wildlife feeding activity (preparing for winter) is very high, so you get to see alot of the animals.

We're very concerned that your stay is as magical as we feel our 25 years in this sacred place have been. We'd like to facilitate your visit with any information we can. Also use of our skis, bikes, skates, etc. is always offered. We usually can offer the use of one of our four wheel drive subaru wagons in order to explore the area.

About Us

View Feedback About My Exchanges

The grownups are B and P, two (non-smoking) professional acoustic musicians (check out www.snakerivermusicagency.com for our work). We have built careers and our local lifestyle (it's still a small town!) on high integrity, good faith efforts. We have many references both local and (inter)national.

The kids are W (14 yrs old) and R M (10 yrs old). They are respectful and intelligent boys who are used to taking care of their surroundings. We have been privileged to have stayed in many homes while touring as musicians, and always have had positive experiences. We've completed over 35 successful home exchanges with the boys including a 6-consecutive home-swap in Western Europe in spring 2006. See our feature article in the September 2007 issue of Natural Health magazine.

We have lots of family and friends living locally who can be available if you need them. They will, however, completely respect your privacy.

We're regular folk who have committed our lives to artistic living. We've had an absolutely wonderful time with trading homes. People seem pleased with us as traders. I can honestly say that we have a very high regard and so much gratitude for the places in which we stay that it shows.

We have one kitty to feed .
