Our home is part of a subdivision or housing estate (a photo presents a street view of the subdivision; from the rear garden you don't see it at all) located on the hilly part of Annecy-le-vieux. The town of Annecy-le-vieux is distinct from the town of Annecy and its old center : the old Annecy (le vieil Annecy), located 2.5 km.
The house is detached and very quiet. It has a front yard and a beautiful garden (500 m2) facing south at the rear.

Built in 1986, it comprises of 120 m2 (1300 sq. f). On the ground floor are a large living room with wood stove, open kitchen overlooking the terrace, a small veranda and toilets.
On the upper level are two large bedrooms, each with a double bed of 160x200 cm, and a smalll bedroom, one office (it can be used as a bedroom if necessary) and two bathrooms shower (no tub) with toilets.
Central heating, wireless internet, two adult bicycles and one for a teenager (many bike paths, but the terrain is not always flat!)
Neighbors are pleasant and helpful (we live in this subdivision for almost 20 years because we like it!)
We have a 2012 Verso S Toyota with manual transmission.

Située dans un lotissement (une des photos présente bien le cadre général du lotissement même si du jardin on ne le voit pas du tout) sur la colline d’Annecy-le-vieux (ne pas confondre avec la ville d’Annecy et son centre ancien, le vieil Annecy, situé à 2,5 km). La maison est indépendante (non mitoyenne) très calme avec un jardinet côté rue et un beau jardin (500 m2 environ) orienté sud à l'arrière.
Construite en 1986, elle comporte sur 120 m2 (environ 1300 sq f),au rez de chaussée un grand living avec poêle à bois, une cuisine ouverte donnant sur la terrasse, une petite véranda, des toilettes.
A l’étage, deux belles chambres, chacune avec un lit double de 160x200 cm, une petite chambre, un bureau (pouvant être utilisé comme chambre si nécessaire et deux salles de douche (pas de baignoire) avec toilette.
Chauffage central, wifi, deux bicyclettes pour adulte et une pour un ado (nombreuses pistes cyclables mais le terrain n’est pas toujours plat !)
Des voisins agréables et serviables (nous habitons ce lotissement depuis près de 20 ans parce qu'on s'y plait !)

The immediate neighborhood
The neighborhood consists of 50 similar houses; on a private road. A trail into woods and fields is accessible from the house as well as a small shopping center (bakery, pharmacy, newspaper, 'store'). Largest shopping centers and street markets are less than 2 km and so is Lake Annecy (swimming possible from May to September depending on weather!). Starting May 1st, an outdoor heated pool is located by the lake with views of the surrounding mountains.
In less than an hour, after 15 minutes by car, walks on Mount Veyrier gives you a breathtaking view overlooking the Annecy lake and a view on the Mont Blanc.
Annecy and suburbs includes nearly 150 000 inhabitants and has all the facilities of a medium-sized town: cinema, theater, casino, restaurants of all categories, hospital and clinics! and several festivals (e.g..the international festival of animated film and film market on the first days of June).
The old Annecy -sometimes called the Venice of the Alps- is 2.5 km, and can be reached by car or with two city bus
lines that stop at 300 m.

A bit farther
Being in the Alps, hiking and sightseeing are obviously countless. Apart Lake Annecy, surrounded by La Tournette (2350 m) and its various walks, areas of interest are outdoor activities: hiking, swimming, paragliding, roller etc.. Two golf courses nearby: Talloires and Saint-Martin-Bellevue (but I do not know the conditions of access).
The Aravis range is a 30 minute drive : La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand. The Natural park of les Bauges even nearer.
The Jura mountains, Lake du Bourget, Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry are 50 km.
Within 100km (one hour motorway), you reach Chamonix and Mont Blanc. Lyon is 130 km far.

Switzerland is only 50 km with Geneva and Lake Léman. Lausanne, Montreux, Evian etc..
A bit farther, Italy (Val d'Aosta, Turin) can also be reached for a day trip.
Paris can be reached by train (TGV) in less than 4h. Lyon International Airport is one hour of highway, that of Geneva is 40 minutes (From these airports, low cost airlines will lead you to many European cities such as Venice, Budapest or Madrid depending your preference; see e.g. easyjet.com)

Les environs immédiats
Le quartier est composé de maisons individuelles; un parcours dans les bois et les champs est accessible depuis la maison ainsi qu’un petit centre commercial (boulangerie, pharmacie, journaux, ‘dépanneur’). Des centres commerciaux plus importants et des marchés en plein air se trouvent à moins de 2 km ainsi que le lac d’Annecy (baignade possible de mai à septembre selon la température !). Une piscine chauffée en plein air est implantée au bord du lac avec vue sur les montagnes alentours.
En moins d’une heure, après 15 minutes de voiture, des promenades sur le mont Veyrier permettent d’avoir une magnifique vue plongeante sur le lac et d'apercevoir le Mont Blanc.
L'agglomération d'Annecy comprend près de 150 000 habitants et dispose de toutes les facilités d'une ville moyenne : cinéma, théâtre, casino, restaurants de toutes les catégories et suivant l'époque plusieurs festivals. Le vieil Annecy –parfois appelé la Venise des Alpes- est à 2,5km ; on peut le rejoindre en voiture en 10 minutes ou par deux lignes de bus urbains qui s’arrêtent à 300 m.

Les environs plus lointains
La randonnée et les visites culturelles sont évidemment innombrables
Hormis le lac d’Annecy, entouré de montagnes comme la Tournette (2350 m) et ses multiples promenades, les centres d’intérêt peuvent être les activités de plein air : randonnées, natation, parapente, roller etc. Deux terrains de golf à proximité : Talloires et Saint-Martin-Bellevue (mais je ne connais pas les conditions d’accès).
La chaîne des Aravis : à 30 minutes, La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand. Le Jura, le lac du Bourget, Aix-les-Bains et Chambéry sont à 50 km.

We are two retired teachers.Nicole -60 yo- was a French teacher in high school and Jacques -65 yo- management professor at the university. One or two children (adults) may join us for a short period during our stay. We are non-smokers.

We love to discover new horizons.

Nous sommes deux enseignants retraités. Nicole -60 ans- était professeur de français dans un lycée et Jacques -65 ans-professeur de management à l’université.
Un ou deux enfants (adultes) pourraient nous rejoindre un moment pendant notre séjour.
