Our Home
It’s not really such a long way to Tipperary. There are direct flights from Boston, Newark, New York and Toronto to Shannon Airport which is 54 km (34 MI) from our home in Garramore. Our home is a 2 storied 5 bed roomed house that stands at the top of Foxhill with panoramic views of the lakes, rivers, hills and rich farmland of North Tipperary. The house is set in great privacy in 1.6 acres of gardens and woodland at the end a long driveway accessed through electronic gates.
This was our home until last year when we relocated to Michigan for a 3 year assignment. We would love to explore the US while we are here and our home is available for most of the year (we visit for Xmas and a few weeks in the summer)
Kitchen and dining room renovated last year to give a bright open plan room with a large bay window seat with mountain view. Style is vintage with all mod cons, including built in Neff coffee machine. Enormous garden (1.6 acres) with large grass area (for soccer!) and a wooded area for kids to explore. There is also a play set.
There is oiled fired central heating throughout the house and a wood-burning stove in the lounge on the ground floor. Also on this floor there is a sun lounge/play room, an office, a bedroom, two bathrooms each with a shower and a w.c. as well as a library/reception room with a wide screen tv and games console
Master bedroom upstairs with en suite and walknin closet. Main bathroom has a jacuzzi. There are a furhter 3 bedrooms upstairs - 1with double bed, 1with a single/twin and the smallest room has a crib. A separate building houses a garage, office/bedroom (desk and pull out sofa), a bathroom and, in the loft area upstairs, a large play room for children.
About Us
Michael works for a logistics company and has been relocated to the US on a 3 year assignment. I was lecturing at college in Ireland but have taken a career break while we are in the US.
We have 3 young children (8, 5 and 2) and our 8 year old is in charge of our US 'bucket list'. We've made a start and got to Niagra, DC, Baltimore and a couple of trips to northern Michigan (skiing in winter and lakeside in summer).
We hope to get to the west next year and plan to get to the east coast around mid August this year. We are wide open for suggestions on must see destinations in the US.
