Our Home
My large apartment in the Aventino neighborhood of Rome is 50 yards from Circus Maximus and the Pallatine Hill. Numerous historic sites and neighborhoods are within walking distance and there is plenty of public transportation, stores and restaurants. The apartment has lots of natural light and is very comfortable, with high quality furnishings. There are paintings, oriental rugs, books, and a kitchen with modern appliances. The dishes, cookware and linens are high quality. There is wifi if you bring a laptop. There is a terrace with plants that need some watering. There is some traffic noise because this is the center of Rome but it is not bad at night or on weekends.
I am looking for a beach house or apartment for the summer of 2013.
Our Neighborhood
Rome is probably the most beautiful city in the world and this neighborhood is one of the nicest in Rome. This apartment is one block from the historic center of Rome - near the Baths of Caracalla, the Colloseum, the Pallatine, a walk from Testaccio and Transtevere. The United Nations agency FAO is across the street so the merchants in the area are accustomed to foreigners. There is a grocery store very nearby and an outdoor market is open in the mornings. There are restaurants and cafes on the street. There is not a view from the apartment but there are spectacular views very close by. There are many buses and a metro stop nearby.

Other Information
The apartment can comfortably sleep three and a fourth person could sleep in the living room. Older children are fine. The apartment is not set up for small children.

I am a middle aged, professional American woman who has lived in Rome for 22 years. Prior to coming to Rome, I lived in New York City, Cambridge, Massachusetts and Santa Monica, California. I am well educated and well travelled and my home contains lots of books, art and momentos from my travels. I like to cook and I have a fairly well equipped kitchen. I have a quiet lifestyle.
