Our Home

Our home is a sunny 3 bedroom house in a quiet residential street with great transport links to central London. We back onto a lovely safe park where you can relax with your children after a days sightseeing. The park is an ideal spot for your children to make friends. There's a good cafe, playground, free tennis courts, duck pond and basketball pitch.

We have a pretty south west facing patio garden with nice garden furniture and Weber BBQ where you can sit out on an evening and hear the ducks and geese and watch the bats fly over.

Our home is a mixture of new and old with some nice artwork. The spacious (for London!) kitchen diner has doors onto the garden and a range cooker. We have two living rooms with Victorian fireplaces, record player and guitars if that's your thing. The main bedroom has a 5 foot bed. The two children's rooms are reasonably sized and have views over the park. Both have have single beds and one also has a sofa bed and TV with Xbox etc.
The bathroom has a shower over the bath. It is small but functional and there is a separate toilet on the ground floor.

Our Neighborhood

Lee Green is a pleasant family area with great transport links, only 10/15 min by train to London Bridge for the Tate Modern and Borough food market; 20 mins to Charing Cross and the West End. Also easy access to DLR for Stratford and Docklands. Best of all you can walk to Greenwich Park and Observatory in 25 mins through leafy Blackheath village (15 mins).

We have all amenities close by: several nice restaurants a short walk away and a large supermarket is just a 5 min walk. Blackheath has a very good farmers market every Sunday. It's known for it's good food shops, restaurants and cafe life. You can see the park behind our house from upstairs. It contains a Georgian manor house, once the home of the Baring family complete with original ice house. Now a public library and park, there are often low key events in the summer and a farmers market every month. It's a really safe environment for kids and very popular with locals. As well as the ducks you'll even see herons which nest there every year.

We are a short bus ride to Eltham Palace which is great alternative day out. Once a court of Henry VIII the house is a must for Art Deco fans.

The Kent Coast especially Whitstable is in easy reach by car or train.

Our neighbours are our friends too and will make you feel welcome.

About Us

View Feedback About My Exchanges

Chris is a surveyor and Fiona a communications manager in Whitehall. We have two teenage boys (13, 16) who have all the usual clutter and gadgets for your children to use. We still have lots of toys for younger children too. We love living here as there is a really good community feel and we have made so many friends locally.

We don't own a car but if you want to travel out of London there is a good local car hire we can recommend. Our local reliable taxi firm can pick you up from any airport.

We had three very successful swaps during 2012 - Denmark, Holland and France through Home Exchange and have also previously swapped in the US with friends.

We are going to New York and Maine for summer 2013, interested in California 2014 but open to all offers.
