Our Home
We live in the Steam Plant Lofts building which was converted from a source of steam power in the 1940’s to a modern, architecturally recognized set of lofts in 2004. Our loft is a three bedroom, two and a half bath, open floor plan home. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, two walk-in closets and an en-suite bathroom with double sinks and shower (no tub). The second bedroom is fitted with a double bed, a single large closet and an attached bath with tub. The third bedroom is on the mezzanine, overlooking the main floor and set up as an office with desk, couch and a half bath.
As a retired couple, we spend a lot of time in our home enjoying the convenience of a kitchen open to the living area. The kitchen island with a gas, four burner cook-top and built-in oven lets one of us cook while the other can be reading or TV watching yet still be able to converse with each other. The deck, with a natural gas BBQ, is directly off the kitchen and dining area and lets us enjoy evenings outside watching sunsets over the mountains. The house is WiFi connected and cable connected for TV/phone service. We have a two-car garage attached to the building and an elevator for access to our third floor loft. The building is very secure using either keys or personal codes for entry.
Our Neighborhood
Our home is centrally located in Denver in the newly rebuilt urban, mixed-use neighborhood of Lowry. We are a two minute walk to the town square which includes a large grocery store, restaurants, nail and hair salons, postal shop, and boutiques. We really enjoy our community as we find that it is diversified with people, filled with parks and common green areas, very safe and quiet yet thriving with private and public schools as well as many business offices and medical offices. We even have our own World War II bomber aircraft and air museum in the middle of the area because the Lowry site is a former airbase. The central business district, or downtown Denver, is a 15 minute drive and easily accessed by the local bus. Denver International Airport is a very easy 30 minute drive. Skiing, hiking and a myriad of outdoor activities in the Rocky Mountains begin in the foothills, a half-hour drive; or farther away are the ski resorts (Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Vail, etc.) at an hour to an hour and a half drive. These resorts are fun in the summer with music festivals, craft fairs, kayaking, mountain biking and river rafting. The mountain flowers are also a must see!

Our Destinations
Our daughter and son-in-law have recently moved to Melbourne, from Sydney. With their first baby due the end of May, 2013, we are hoping to make an exchange for some time during April to July, 2013. They are living in the Melbourne area of Elwood so an exchange with someone in this area is preferred. We are quite flexible in our dates, at least at this time. Let us know if you may be interested.
We are open to other exchanges at any time.

About Us
Heather and I (Mark) are both retired teachers. We are both very active making good use of the community and mountains in the area. I am an avid cyclist, gym rat and racquetball player, Heather power walks daily and we both enjoyed sailing on our 25’ sailboat until we tired of lake sailing a few summers ago. With the mountains so close and accessible we find ourselves hiking or biking in the summer and snowshoeing or skiing in the winter months, although we have spent the last three winters visiting Australia. We try to make it to the theater and the symphony at least a few times a year and with so many good restaurants close by in Cherry Creek and in the city, we do get out to eat occasionally.
