If you choose to exchange houses with us, you will surely enjoy our typical Dutch house, built around 1910 in the centre of Leiden.

We love the small and quiet neighbourhood we live in. From our house it’s a 10 minute walk to the lively centre. Leiden is a university city and has a lot of musea, restaurants, take-aways, shops, cinemas and a market place twice a week. From our house it’s a 5 minute walk to the train and busstation. There is a supermarket nearby.

Leiden is located between Amsterdam and The Hague. It is also not far to Rotterdam, Delft and Utrecht (all max 1 hour driving). It’s only 10 kilometers to the sea. You can choose from different beaches like Noordwijk, Katwijk, Wassenaarseslag and Scheveningen.

On the first floor we have a large and sunny livingroom (tv, dvd player and stereo), an open kitchen (dish washer, oven-microwave and fridge), a master bedroom (with balcony) with a double bed, five childrens bedrooms, a toilet and a bathroom (bath and shower).

On the groundfloor we have another livingroom with double doors to the garden. There is also an extra kitchen you can use when you want to eat outside. Beside the kitchen you will find the washing machine and the tumbler. There is also a piano room and an extra toilet on the ground floor.

Our garden has a lot of shade. It's a nice place for a barbeque sitting at the large table.

We take advantage of the sunny public playground behind our house, which also has a swimming pool for younger children.

We have several bikes available for adults and children. If you have younger children we can make special arrangements for you. And if you like inline skating: we have several pairs available in several sizes.

Leiden is famous for its almshouses, university, museums and glorious history. The canals, the historical buildings, the alleyways, the treasuries of knowledge, culture and science: Leiden is definitely worth seeing: http://portal.leiden.nl/en/tourism_leisure

Within one hour drive you can also visit cities like Amsterdam (Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, etc.), Rotterdam (several boat trips possible in the very large harbours) and The Hague (city of the government). There is a straight train connection to all of these cities if you wish to travel bij train.

We have two public swimmingpools in the neighbourhood, but you can also go to the Northsea or the Kager Plassen (lake district with lots of boats).

We would like to exchange houses for three weeks in the period July 20 till August 31.

We have some ideas but are open to other destinations.

Our family makes five: Hans (47) works in a PR agency, and Annerieke (45) studies and practises Applied Psychology with children.

We have three children of our own: Philip (15), Daphne (18) and Matthias (20, lives elsewhere). We also take care of three foster children (on a permanent basis): Manuela (9), Lorenzo (10) and Shena (12).

We have no pets and are non-smokers.
