Our big family house is around 100 years old. We bought it 2007 and remodeled it in the inside The house contains a large well equipped open kitchen with dining room, a living room with a fireplace, four bedrooms, tow office / working rooms, one bathroom with shower an bathtup and two separate restrooms, cellar and garage. The property is about 1000 square meters with swimming pool, sandpit, lawn, pavilion and large patio. The house is seated in a quiet accommodation in a dead end street, so there is almos no traffic. From the top floor you can see the Swiss Alps with Eiger, Munch and Jungfrau.

Burgdorf is an acient town with 15'000 inhabitants. Everything ist close in Burgdorf and in Switzerland in general. Shops, restaurants, theaters, museums, public pool, the Old Town, the railway station, the river Emme (the one that forms the Emmental, meaning the "valley of the river Emme", yes, that's where the cheese origins), woods, playgrounds and so on are reachable within a 5 to 10 minutes walk. The Capital of Switzerland, Berne, is only 30 minutes away (by car or train), Zurich, Basel, Luzern, Interlaken and the Alps, severel beautiful mountain lakes are within one hour's drive, Geneva or Zermatt with the famous Matterhorn within two hours, the Emmental with its magnificient hills lies just at your feet. Even famous location in the near European countries are within short reach: fast trains leaving from Berne bring you in 4 hours to Paris (France), Milano or Genova (Italy), Frankfurt (Germany) or Innsbruck (Austria) or in about 5 to 7 hours to Rome, Pisa or Venice (Italy), Brussels (Belgium) or Munich (Germany). You see, ancient Europe is just around the corner.

Burgdorf is excellently developped with public transportation, trains leaving frequently in all four directions. The expressway is only ten minutes away. Burgdorf was awarded the "bycicle friendliest town in Switzerland", it's easy to go on bike anywhere in and around Burgdorf. Generally there is an excellent bikeway and mountain bike net througout Switzerland.

Burgdorf is build around one of the most beautiful castles, open to public of course.

We will stay from mid July for several weeks in California and would love to stay in a house at / near the beach for some time

We are a family of four: Christoph ist an attorney working in Berne, Eliane is a teacher for children with special purposes, Eva (born 2007) attends the kindergarten and Carlo (born 2009) likes playing all day long. We love beeing and playing in our garden at the pool, going on bycicle trips, have a summer evening barbecue at the bench of the river Emme, skiing in the mounains in wintertime. The children especially love pony rides in the green Emmental hills. There are two friendly cats in our family, Lina and Emil.
