Our Home
Indoor elegance and outdoor beauty. Our home is located on a quiet suburban street, but set back from the road on an attractively landscaped acre. Tall trees surround the house. A small seasonal brook babbles along behind the house, part of 12 acres of conservation land.
Our home is 3,500 square feet with 2 master suites and a 3rd guest bedroom with a double bed. One of the master bedroom suites has a second platform bed/video game playing area that could sleep another person or another 2 small children. The other master has a walk-in closet and large luxurious bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Downstairs is a family room with TV, treadmill, and stationary bike. There are 2 offices as well, with wifi throughout the house.
A wall of south facing glass provides lots of sun and a view of the backyard, brook and woods. The large open kitchen & formal dining room flow into the adjacent living room (with fireplace) that opens onto an upper deck. The upper deck has a dining area and BBQ grille. The lower deck has a secluded hot tub with seating for 4-6. It is so wonderfully relaxing to sit in the hot tub, looking into the woods as it is snowing.
Sorry I still have only put up photos of part of the house. At some point I'll add more.

Our Neighborhood
Historic Concord Massachusetts, incorporated in 1635, has many Colonial era buildings, famous tourist sights such as the Old North Bridge and Louisa May Alcott's house ("Little Women"). It also has a picturesque and vibrant downtown area with small shops and cafes. There are many good restaurants within a short drive of our home. Many Concordians commute to work in Boston on a daily basis. There is a convenient train that runs into Cambridge and downtown Boston. The two Concord stations are a 5-6 minute drive from our house.
We enjoy living here and have done so for over 25 years. For more info about Concord, here is the town website for visitors:

Our house is located in a quiet suburban section of Concord. Around the corner is White Pond, a twin of the more crowded Walden Pond which is located just a few minutes away. White Pond has a private beach with a lifeguard, as well as a smaller unsupervised swim area for our neighborhood. Elementary and Middle schools with their fields and playgrounds are both walking distance.
The Concord, Sudbury, and Assabet Rivers all converge near the Concord Boat House - a 5 minute drive - where hourly canoe and kayak rentals are available. A most pleasant way to spend the day is to float by stately homes and natural scenery on the way to historic sites such as the Old North Bridge. Look for the painted turtles on warm days.
A short 2-3 minute drive away are a few local farms with seasonal fresh, organic produce. In season it is fun to prepare healthy meals with most ingredients coming from fields within a few miles of the house.
Concord and surrounding towns are fun places to bicycle. There are several good loops though either Carlisle or Lincoln. There is cross country skiing in winter and quiet woods-walking in summer just minutes from our house.

About Us
We are in our mid 50s. Elliot has retired early from business - at least for now - and Janice has a small business importing and selling folk art from people who need help earning a living. We love to travel and have done quite a bit over the years both on business and for pleasure. Now in 2012 we have decided to try traveling for longer periods of time, and via swapping homes rather than staying in hotels.
We love good food and wine. Cooking in our gourmet kitchen is one of our great pleasures, as is trying new foods in new places.
We would be interested in conventional home exchanges, as well as hospitality exchanges and perhaps non-concurrent swaps.
Elliot is terribly allergic to cats and most dogs. Unfortunately we cannot stay in a house where cats or dogs live.
We have a Bichon Frise, a small hypo-allergenic dog named Pearl. We also have a pet turtle. We could have them stay with others, or leave them to look after you during your stay. We can be flexible regarding them.
