Our home is a comfortable two bedroom townhouse located in the beautiful mountain town of Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra of California. The main entry and two bedrooms with queen sized beds are downstairs along with a bathroom and laundry closet. The kitchen, dining and living area with cozy woodstove are upstairs and there is a sunny south facing balcony. The upstairs living room serves as the third sleeping area with a full size sleeper sofa, separate closet and access to the upstairs bathroom with shower.
The surrounding scenery and areas of geological interest are stunnning and during the summer months you can enjoy lots of beautiful hiking, fishing, horseback riding and the sights of hot springs, Rainbow Falls and Devils Postpile Monument all closeby. You can ride the scenic gondala to the 11,053 foot summit of Mammoth Mountain and bike down in the summer if you like! There are also miles of asphalt bike paths for road cycling. Within an hour drive you can be in Yosemite National Park, visit an old western ghost town "Bodie" or enjoy the unique features of Mono Lake an inland saline "sea". We also have many festivals and concerts during the summer months and the autumn leaves changing are beautiful.
Mammoth Lakes is known in the winter months as having one of the longest ski season's in the United States. There are more than 3500 acres of skiable trails, 7 terrain parks and closeby Nordic cross country skiing and snowshoeing. You can go dog sledding, snowmobiling and ice skating.
The townhouse is located a short walk to restaurants and shopping. The town offers a free shuttle that stops at the end of our street and the paved Lakes Basin Trail (for walking & biking) runs right behind our home. We are 9 miles from the Mammoth/Yosemite airport that has flight daily to Los Angeles and seasonally to San Francisco, Orange County, San Diego and Portland. Reno / Tahoe airport is about 3hrs drive up scenic highway 395

We purchased this townhome because we enjoy outdoor recreation and the Eastern Sierra has such a wonderful climate. Mammoth Lakes has more than 300 days of sunshine each year. The summer provides warm temperatures, low humidity and lots of opportunity to be outside and enjoy the local weather. In the winter we have more than 400 inches of snow (600+ last winter) making it a very long ski season. Skiing in a t-shirt in April this year on fresh fluffy white snow was wonderful and a memory our son will have forever.
From our townhouse front door we can connect to the Lakes Basin trail and ride or walk up to beautiful alpine lakes for fishing, hiking & biking. You can take a 10 minute walk to shopping and restaurants or ride the free town trolley to the ski lodges or into town. This is a small mountain town but there is so much to offer and we have enoyed exploring the surrounding area.

Our son is home schooled, so we are not tied to school holidays and can do non simultaneous exchanges. We regret we cannot offer our property in Mammoth Lakes over Winter school holidays.

We are interested in Europe, particularly - Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland between September 2012-February 2013. Exhange does not need to be simutaneous for use of our property in Mammoth Lakes.

My husband Tom and I (Jane) have been married for 18 years. I am originally from England and have been in the United States for almost twenty years. We have one son who is 9 years old. We all enjoy the adventure of traveling. Our son loves to read and enjoys history so we would love to exchange throughout Europe so he can visit many of the places he reads about. We have lived in Florida for many years and wanted to find a home location where we could spend more time outdoors together and get away from the heat and humidity. Mammoth Lakes, California provided that and more! As a family we enjoy skiing and snowboarding and hiking through the beautiful mountains of the Eastern Sierra. Since our son is homeschooled we are flexible to travel at any time and enjoy both city breaks (museums, galleries & great restaurants) as well as being in the great outdoors - hiking, skiing, horseriding, biking, swimming & fishing so we are open to most destinations both within the US and overseas and can be flexible with dates and duration as our work allows us to travel as long as we have an internet connection! Our mountain home is comfortable and well located. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.
