Our striking, comfortable, light and airy modern zen-like home, built in 2005 all on one level, is an ideal base from which to explore the very best of the southwestern USA National Parks and their truly incredible scenery.

Our home is situated at 1400 meters elevation above sea level, in one of America's most scenic environments: the Red Rock Country of Sedona. Our home site, consisting of approximately 2000m2, (one half an acre) is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, with some installed landscaping, but mostly naturally occuring vegetation common to the high deserts of the Southwest.

We are two hours' drive from the Grand Canyon, three hours drive from Monument Valley, and about five hours' drive from Zion and Bryce National Parks. Las Vegas is about four hours' drive.

We live in Sedona's foremost golf community: the Sedona Golf Resort. Views of Sedona's Red Rock Country are excellent from all parts of our community and village. Auto traffic is minimal, and thus we and our neighbors enjoy walking and biking throughout the neighborhood. Our immediate community (the Village of Oak Creek, with a population of 7,000) has basic necessities about 1.5km away from our home, such as banks, grocery store, post office, gas stations, a theater, restaurants, bars, and a hardware store. Our village also offers three golf courses and tennis courts. The City of Sedona, about 10km away, has a population of about 12,000 and offers a full range of stores, shops, restaurants and art galleries to fill every need.

Hiking trails are abundant throughout the very scenic Sedona area, and we can help with recommendations about our preferred hiking areas.

Although our home is situated in an established neighborhood, we are surrounded by the Coconino National Forest. Wildlife, such as roadrunners, coyotes, javelinas, bobcats, rabbits, quail, cardinals, pinon jays, red tailed hawks, and an occasional mountain lion, are frequent visitors to our property.

We are fortunate to live in a very friendly neighborhood (everyone here came from somewhere else to retire).

We have experience with one home exchange, and prefer to exchange with someone with some experience.

Our 2004 VW W8 Passat is available on an vehicle exchange basis.

We are somewhat flexible....... but prefer June or July exchanges.

We would prefer a smaller town, near the water, rather than a large city.

We would prefer a lower density neighborhood rather than an urban environment.

We are a married couple (David and Betty). We retired about six years ago, and decided to build our "dream home" in one of our favorite places in the world. David retired as a Business Development officer for one of the world's largest bridge engineering companies, and Betty retired after 33 years as a high school counselor.

David is an active community volunteer and auto enthusiast, and Betty enjoys her volunteer activities associated with her status as a Master Gardener. Betty is also a bird enthusiast, with about ten bird seed feeders and five hummingbird feeders to care for. Our home has many lovely orchids that she tends.

Our cat, named "Target", entertains us frequently.

We enjoy frequent travel, and are very active in our greater community, with many civic and volunteer activities.
