The natural beauty of the area is something we never tire of and we are truly fortunate to have a small part of this paradise. For the surfers, the Alexandra Heads surf break has a consistent swell and is easily accessible 400 metres north and has surfing lessons available if you need them. The golfers have a choice of 9 courses in the immediate vicinity including the PGA championship course at Hyatt Coolum and other quality courses such as Twin Waters and Pelican Waters along the Sunshine Coast, all within 30 minutes drive of Mooloolaba. Kangaroos feeding and sunning themselves on the course have right of way (local rule)!
If you are keen on catching your own, the fishing along the Mooloolah ocean reefs and river has plenty of secret spots and if the fish aren’t biting there is always the option of succulent fresh fish straight off the boat at the Mooloolaba Fisherman’s Co-operative. For yachties, the Mooloolaba marina is of international standard as a blue water destination and a must stay on any voyage north to the Whitsundays or beyond and for those not quite as adventurous, the Sunday sailing on Mooloolaba bay is immensely popular with a fleet of up to 100 boats competing.
For scuba diving enthusiasts, the HMAS Brisbane was decommissioned and scuttled 2km off Mooloolaba in 25m of water as a recreational dive site and has become a major drawcard for many recreational divers. The Mooloolaba Bowls Club is 200m behind our house, and is a warm and friendly place with good competition bowls or a casual barefoot game. There is a great bar, Sunday Night carvery and live entertainment in the clubhouse.
Mooloolaba and the Sunshine Coast has an extensive network of walking and bicycle tracks for you to enjoy, including waterfalls and pristine rainforest at nearby Buderim.
And if the active recreation is all too much, then we are spoilt with the great range of cafés, alfresco restaurants, casual and upmarket dining, exclusive boutiques and galleries along the Mooloolaba Esplanade. The iconic Mooloolaba Surf Club serves great meals including the freshest seafood platters and steaks and is a spectacular location to have a cold beer or good wine whilst watching the sun set over the Mooloolaba Bay.
The hinterland of the Glass House Mountains is a subtropical rainforest paradise and provides a beautiful backdrop to the ocean frontage. Explore quaint mountain towns such as Maleny and Eumundi which are noted for their arts, crafts, galleries, wine and cheese, music festivals and markets, which attract plenty of people. Food and Wine festivals are also hosted throughout the region.
Fraser Island is just off Noosa coastline and as the world’s largest sand island has abundant natural beauty for you to explore.
There are many cultural activities throughout the year, and with Brisbane just 1 hour by road, you have access to the best live theatre and shows, musicals and cultural festivals and premier sporting events.
On the domestic front, we are 100m to the local supermarket complex which has a bakery, newsagent, large supermarket, bottle shop, pub, chemist, bank and ATM’s. Also within close proximity is the local doctor’s clinic and allied health professional’s.
