We live in a modern home, with a large green yard that includes a giant trampoline (for children and adults alike), a swing-set, a hammock, a patio, lounge chairs, and a table with chairs to eat outside.

There is an open kitchen (fully equipped and easy to use), a dining area, and a living room downstairs. There is a sofa-bed in the office/study (downstairs). Thanks to the numerous windows and silding doors facing South, there is a lot of natural light in this downstairs space. The office space is equipped with internet, and there is a standing shower off of this room.

Upstairs there is a large, luminous bathroom, with a full bathtub (hand-held shower) and two sinks. Three bedrooms can sleep 6 people not inlcuding air mattresses that can be put on the floor: bedroom 1) queen bed; bedroom 2) bunk bed, 1 on top, 2 on bottom and room for a mattress on the floor; bedroom 3) 1 single sized children's bed and room for a mattress.

- We live in a quiet, very safe village on the outskirts of CAEN. Our house is very close to pastures and a lovely little forest offering hiking trails. In just 2 minutes on foot, you can be at: an excellent boulangerie (bakery), a high-quality butcher, a convenience store, a pharmacie, and a tabac (for the smokers amongst you). It is a quiet and safe little town, very pleasant for walks, and very very green!

- Affordable buses leave from the village almost every hour, heading into CAEN (with all of the stops, it takes about 30 minutes)

- Our village is 15 minutes (by car) from the city of CAEN, where William the Conquerer's castle still stands impressively, looking over the city center. Caen is a university town of several hundred thousand. Interesting stuff in CAEN besides the castle: William's Abbey, Mathilda's Abbey, tons of shopping (inluding the famous department stores "Galleries Lafayette" and "Printemps"), all sorts of restaurants, and a very impressive museum on WWII which focuses on world peace as well, called "Le Memorial de Caen". Public transport is good and easy within the city, and buses do run from the center to all sorts of nearby destinations...(various beaches, the city of Bayeux, etc)

- We are within 35 minutes of: the Bayeux Tapestry; Beaches and yummy ice cream; lovely historic villages; numerous historic sites and gastronomical destinations; and and an ancient Roman site called Vieux. The D-Day beaches and WW II cemeteries, depending on the ones you go to, are within 30 min and 1 hr away.

Our doggy (a 4 yr old fox terrier) loves being around people, and can either be part of the exchange, if you have a dog who needs sitting as well, OR he can have a little retreat to the kennel.

Summer 2013: 2-3 weeks in August

We are hoping to find a 2-week exchange in a rural/coastal area in Ireland this summer (August, ideally). We might have up to 12 people in our party.

Also open to other charming destinations in Europe (2-3 weeks, August 2013).

Nous esperons trouver un échange de maison pour cet été, 2 à 3 semaines en Irelande (un endroit rural et/ou sur la côte. Nous ne connaissons pas encore le nombre de personnes dans notre groupe mais on risque d'être entre 8 et 12.

Sommes aussi ouverts à d'autres destinations en Europe, mêmes dates, et de préférence sur la côté ou près d'une rivière où on peut se baigner facilement.

We are Isabel (39), an American photographer/translator/writer/english teacher/MOM, and Hervé (40), a French CPA. We are both amateur musicians. I love plants, vegetables and flowers, so you'll surely see some evidence of that if you come to stay "chez nous."
