Our Home
We live in a renovated Edwardian home in a quiet street. There are four bedrooms including 1 king size bed, 2 double beds and 1 king single bed. There are two lounge areas. One lounge is open plan and adjoins the kitchen and dining area, the other is ideal for reading or some quiet time though both have flat screen TV's, cable TV and DVD players. There are two bathrooms, one of which is an ensuite attached to the master bedroom. The kitchen is newly renovated and well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso and large ilve oven and walk in butler's pantry. There is a separate laundry with washing machine and dryer. There is a private backyard with a BBQ and salt water pool with outdoor dining and lounge suite where you can relax during balmy evenings. We have a good collection of music and the backyard is a great place to sit outside and have a drink in the evening. The house has high speed wireless broadband Internet. The house has high ceilings and it has central heating for the winter. There is a nice collection of movies, and music to be used during your stay. The house has a several ipod docks with a stereo if you are bringing your own music on an ipod. We have wonderful neighbours who would be happy to give you assistance if required. We have a 2006 VW Golf that we would be happy to exchange. We all love to exercise and have a treadmill and exercise bike for you to use( if you feel inclined)
We have plenty of bikes if you'd prefer to hit the bike track and cycle into Melbourne.
Our Neighborhood
Surrey Hills is known as the 'English Counties District'. Surrey Hills is a small and friendly suburb. It sits between Camberwell and Box Hill and is close to the unique Mailing Road shopping village in Canterbury. It is 11 km east from Melbourne’s central business district. It is well served by public transport and is only 20-minute train ride to Flinders St Station, Melbourne's main station.
There are a many cafes, restaurants and wine bars located in Camberwell, which is 5 minutes in the car. It also has great bookshops, beauticians and hairdressers and a collection of butchers, green grocers and an organic food store. Surrey Hills is a great little place and is a hidden gem in Melbourne's inner East. We have trains,trams and buses all within minutes of our home.
Surrey Hills is full of lovely leafy streets, fantastic neighbours, and almost zero crime or trouble - And access to everything from here is just perfect.
Melbourne has galleries,gardens,theatres,restaurants,markets and an amazingly harmonious mix of cultures. We have the Docklands Precinct,Southbank, busy and vibey St Kilda or you could head for the Dandenong Ranges or the Black Spur. There is so much to do...or just lie next to our pool and read!
*We are 1 hour from the Mornington Penninsula(beaches,wineries,cafes)
*1 and 1/2 hours from the Great Ocean Road( one of the world's most scenic roads through the Great Ocean Road region which covers south-west Victoria and is home to the famous 12 Apostles)
,*2 and 1/2 hours from ski slopes(in winter)
*1 hour plane trip to Sydney
* 2 hours to Queensland.

About Us
We are a family of five, Greg, Marg, Ellie (23). Charlotte (19) and Madeleine(17). Greg runs his own small business in home decorating and Marg is a secondary school teacher and our three girls are all students.. We are a relaxed and easy going family, we are thoughtful and considerate and we would treat any home exchange property with care and respect. We enjoy walking, movies, reading and exploring. We enjoy going out for coffee and socialising in the many ambient cafes close by in Surrey Hills. We love living in Melbourne which is a fantastic city in terms of culture, shopping, architecture and sport. But food in Melbourne is amazing. You name it....we have it. Vietnamese, Italian, French, Mexican, Thai or Korean or Lebanese.. Food is world class, well priced and everywhere!The many laneways in the city are hidden gems that can be explored over and over again. We enjoy exploring the suburbs of Melbourne and all that they have to offer whether it be antiques in Armadale or bookshops and restaurants in the Italian quarter of Lygon St, Carlton. We enjoy shopping at the Queen Victoria Market on Saturday mornings to cook a nice meal in the evening at home.We love good wine and there is plenty of it in Australia! We enjoy the many country destinations within 90 minutes drive from our home including the spa town of Daylesford, the country restaurants at Piper St Kyneton, and the seaside towns along the Great Ocean Road. We love the beaches of Victoria and frequent both the Mornington Penninsula and the Gippsland coastline.
