Our roomy, three-bedroom apartment is 120m2 on the 2nd floor of a fully renovated former social housing complex built in 1906. It's newly renovated and filled with a mix of contemporary and vintage design furniture. There is great light all day through wrap around windows on three sides of the apartment. Even in the dark winters the main room is filled with light. There is a small balcony on the back of the apartment that catches the evening sun for dinner in the summer.

The apartment is located in the Spaarndammerbuurt, just north of the Westerpark. The neighbourhood is home to lots of great Amsterdam School architecture and a bustling high street with good restaurants. The location is convenient for everything in Amsterdam, just 25 minutes walk (or 8 minutes by bus) from Central Station, 10 minutes from the Jordaan, 5 minutes to the Westerpark and the Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek and with easy tram and bike access throughout the city. You can take a run through the park or walk along the nearby harbor.

There is a grocery store five minutes walk. A large playground is located across the street. There are two bus lines running nearby that connect you to the rest of the city if you don't want to walk or bike.

The apartment sleeps four comfortably. There is a queen size bed in the main bedroom. The office has a day bed that one person can sleep on, or a single mattress can be combined with the day bed to sleep two on the floor in relative comfort, or separated and put in a small separate bedroom if you want to sleep 2+1+1.

The kitchen is new and well equipped with gas burners, two ovens, and fancy cookware. Wi-fi internet and a big iMac for watching movies, but no television. We are on the 2nd floor (North American 3rd) with no elevator, but the staircase is wide. We'll provide clean linens, towels, fresh flowers and everything needed for a cozy stay.

We have an infant so people traveling with a baby will find our place well-equipped for kidlets.

Two bikes are at your disposal.

We are interested in weekend trips during the year and longer stays during the months of July and August.

In the fall, winter and spring, we are interested in weekends and relatively short-term European city destinations: Stockholm, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Sofia, Budapest, Prague, Copenhagen, London, Glasgow, Pamplona, Tel Aviv, Florence, Istanbul, Athens, Lisbon, and smaller, interesting cities.

In the summer, we are interested in a longer term (several weeks or more) destination, preferably rural. A cottage in Bordeaux, a gite in Provence, something in the Basque Country, Sardinia, the Cyclades, essentially anywhere interesting and beautiful.

We are a couple from North America, a designer and a professor. We have an infant sone. We love our apartment and cooking in our new kitchen.
