Our Home
Our home a mid-terraced Victorian property, built about 100 years ago. It contains all the original features of the period, including a fireplace in almost every room! It is in a residential street full of families with young children and has five bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a large sitting room/playroom and an attractive and sunny kitchen breakfast room. The kitchen contains a table that will comfortably seat up to 8 people. There is a small garden too, with a barbecue you are free to use. Most of the house has been decorated within the last year, and the light and bright loft extension (containing the 5th bedroom and very smart shower room) was built just last year. Two of the bedrooms contain king-sized beds, the third contains a small double bed and the fourth contains a single bed. We have a fifth bedroom, but it is used as a study although there is plenty of room for a blow-up bed should a fifth bedroom be required. There are two shower rooms (each containing a good shower, a toilet and a basin). The third bathroom contains a bath, toilet and basin. Our sitting room is large, and used to be two rooms that have been knocked into one. One end contains the TV and DVD player plus two sofas. The other end is used as a play area and contains lots of toys and games. The kitchen is, in my opinion, the nicest room in the house and is very well equipped. There are two sets of double doors and half of the roof is glass so the room is very light. It faces East so is sunniest in the mornings. We have two children (a boy of 8 and a girl of 6) and their bikes will be in the garden if you want to use them! We also have a cat that will need food and cuddles!

Our Neighborhood
We live in a very family-friendly area. There are many many families with young children around, and consequently there are many playgrounds and child-centred shops, cafes, restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Our street is residential and quiet, with Clapham Common at one end, no more than 5 minutes walk away. Here, you will find two playgrounds, a wonderful Victorian bandstand that often hosts great music events, and a lovely cafe serving great coffee, huge cakes and ice-cream! It's a lovely place for a walk and there's lots to explore. There are several other very large parks within walking distance, or a short bus trip.
No more than 10/15 minutes walk away is a very smart shopping Street (Northcote Road) that contains many boutique shops, bars and restaurants in every price range.
We are very well located for travelling into central London too. A bus from the end of our road will take you, direct, to Westminster and Trafalgar Square in around 30 minutes, and will take you past many of the great sights such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall and Trafalgar Square itself. Alternatively, you are no more than a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride from the Underground station at Clapham Common, which will take you into the centre of London in about 25 minutes.
Also within 2 minutes of the house you can catch a bus to take you direct to the Science Museum, The Natural History Museum and the Victoria &Albert Museum. Most of the museums are free, and the bus will cost little over £1 per adult and free for children! Harrods, Harvey Nichols and all the other great shops in Kinghtsbridge and the Kings Road are also a 20 minute bus ride away.
We are also a 5 minute bus ride from Clapham Junction, the busiest railway station in Europe apparently! Trains from here will take you, direct, to Gatwick Airport and the south coast. Many people who live in this area commute into both the financial district and the West End of London as it manages to be close to central London, yet has a villagey and friendly feel to it as well as fabulous amenities.
