Our home is a spacious ground floor flat in a converted period home built around the beginning of the 20th century, and is brimming with period features. Rooms are large, airy and well appointed. There are 2 large double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one en-suite), large lounge/dining room, kitchen with walk-in larder and range cooker, and private entrance. The flat walks out onto a private patio area which is perfect for bbqs (equipment available) or eating al fesco (weather permitting!) To the front of the property there is a large front communal garden, shared by 3 other flats (although you'll mostly have this to yourself).

We do have an adorable and friendly oriental black cat, who will need a bit of love, attention and feeding.

We do have airbeds available which can be set up to accommodate 2 additional persons, if required.

Our home is equipped with wifi, satelite TV and computer equipment can be made available if required.

Our home is situated in the exclusive area of Bowdon, Altrincham, Greater Manchester - home to footballers and millionaires. Altrincham Town Centre and Hale are both a quick 10-15 minute walk away, where you will find restaurants, cinema, shops and more.

Manchester is easily reached by Metro tram from Altrincham in about 25 mins, a bus stop is located in front of the property, and Manchester Airport is a mere 15 minutes away by car. The major M56, M60 and M6 motorways are all reached within 5-15 minutes.

If you want a combination of city and country break, our propery is perfect. Within 5 minutes by bicylce (can be made available) or 10 minutes by foot, you are in the countryside where the country lanes make the city feel a million miles away.

The Country Estate of Dunham Massey is 10 minutes away by car, or an easy and beautiful 20 minute walk way. There are many country walks available very nearby, however the Peak District is less than an hour away and the Lake District is about 2 hours away.

Altrincham and Hale sports a number of golf courses, gyms, theatres and a cinema.

We are a professional couple in our 40s/50s without children but with wunderlust! We love travelling and have explored many diverse parts of our beautiful world. However, we realise there are so many more places we would love to go.

We are finally ready to start planning a long term swap, Ideally we'd like to spend some time at the end of 2013 / first half of 2014 abroad. Our first choice will be Asia, South America and/or South Africa.

I am originally from South Africa, but my husband is British, and I have been in the UK for over 13 years. Between us we are fluent in Afrikaans (similar to Dutch) and English, but we can also get by in French, Dutch, German and Spanish.
