We live on a rural and historical spot on the river Amstel in a southern outskirt of Amsterdam. Along the river still are some (one next door) 17 th century stately Dutch merchants estates, farm houses and old Dutch windmills, together with contemperary villa's.
Beautiful bicycle (bikes available) rides along the river and through the fields. A 10 km drive along the river up north right into the historical city centre of Amsterdam. You will pass a statue of painter Rembrandt at his favourite spot on the river Amstel. One km to the south the medieval village of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel with an ancient Jewish cemetery. Also shops and good restaurants in Ouderkerk.
Public Transport (Metro and tram) straight into Amsterdam City at a three minutes car drive. Park your car free of charge at the local shopping mall and take the Metro or tram into Amsterdam City in 25 minutes max.
Freeways at 3 minutes and Schiphol Airport at 20 minutes.
