Our Home
Our apartment has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, in addition to the living room, kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area, entryway, and spacious balcony with a gas grill and eating area. The apartment is on the 2nd floor of an 8 story building with an elevator.
The bed situation is as follows: 1 queen size bed in the master bedroom, a bunk bed with two twin mattresses in the guest room, 1 twin size bed and an extra guest mattress to lay on the floor in the 2nd guest room, and two cribs in the kids room. We also have a travel pack n' play crib that can be set up. One or both beds in the 2nd guest room can be moved into the kids room if the cribs are not needed.
We have our own washing machine and dryer, in addition to access to two more washing machines and dryers in the basement that are free to use. The apartment is an end unit and is very quiet. The roof terrace offers a nearly 360 degree view of the Oslo fjord and the rest of Oslo.

Our Neighborhood
We are within walking distance to everything one might need on a daily basis (grocery stores, pharmacy, bakery, etc.) and the public transportation in Oslo is very good. The bus stop is just behind our building and the subway stop is a 5 minute walk away. With the subway it takes 7 minutes to get to the city center. Getting to and from the airport, Oslo Gardermoen, is very easy since the Airport Express Bus stops near our subway stop (this bus has two built-in rear-facing car seats for children/ babies).
Our neighborhood is very child friendly. There are several playgrounds in the immediate area, including one just outside our building. There is also a tennis court beside the building next to ours and there are bike paths, running trails, and cross country ski trails that start right outside our front door.
We are bordered by a wooded area to the north where one can walk to Bogstad lake (ca. 20 minute walk) for swimming, canoeing, and sun bathing in the warmer months and ice skating in winter. Bogstad golf course is on one side of the lake and Bogstad farm, with a small petting zoo, is on the other side. We are close to other golf courses and a driving range too.
The many beaches that Oslo has to offer, both on the mainland and the islands out in the Oslo fjord, can be accessed via the public transportation system, which includes a ferry system.
In the winter months there are many groomed cross-country ski trails in our neighborhood (we can provide one pair of womens' skis with size 39 boots and one pair of men's skis with size 44 boots). There is an alpine, down-hill ski park with a chair lift just behind our neighborhood, 5 minutes by car and also accessible by public transport. In addition, the toboggan run is close by, also accessed by public transport, and offers a sleighing experience that is great fun for both adults and children. Here is a link for more information about that:

Near the National Theater downtown there is an outdoor ice skating rink that is open even after dark. It is free to use the rink and they also have skates for rent. Any other ski, skate, sled, or snowboard rental information can be found through the following link:

Oslo has many interesting museums including the Viking Ship Museum, Fram, Kon-Tiki, the Munch Museum, and the Norwegian Folk Museum, just to name a few. Follow this link for much more information about visiting Oslo:
