Beautiful house from 1924 and garden with appletrees in the cosy, familyfriendly, waternear suburb of Ålsten 10 mins from the citycentre of Stockholm, Sweden. Only 10 min by tram to citycentre of Stockholm and only 500 m from the lake of Mälaren.

Our house was built in 1924 and has a lovely garden with 4 appletrees, 1 chestnuttree, 1 mapletree, 1 plumtree and a herbgarden w/strawberries, rhubarb, lemonbalm, applemint and chives. We also have newlyplanted black and redcurrantbushes. In our garden there is also a big lawn with a stonecliff on it, a trampoline for the kids and swings in some of the trees. We also have a small slide and lots of kidstoys in the garden...

We currently built a new little house in our garden. This house is to function as an architectoffice/studio and is connected to the main house by a new, big wooden deck. The small studiospace will be closed during an exchange though, since it is a working space for Carina. There is outdoor furniture for 6-8 people and a Weber grill on the deck - so you can have a great bbq and sit outside having dinner during the spring and summer months. We also have a small roofed porch with a table and wicker chairs where you can spend an eventually rainy evening... :-)

Ground Floor: A big Kitchen (with a fireplace) and combined Diningroom (sits up to 10 people), a Livingroom with an open fireplace, a big sofa and 2 taburets. There is also a Library with 3 armchairs and a table and with doors that open onto a small roofed porch connecting with the big wooden deck. This is a lovely place to sit when you want to hide from the sun or rain in the spring or summer. We also have a big wooden deck with a table, 6-8 chairs and a Weber bbq grill. Both the Livingroom and the Kitchen has a tv.

Second Floor: 1 Master Bedroom with a Kingsizebed, 2 wardrobes, a Walk-In-Closet and a small table with chair (homeofficearea), 1 Bedroom (Caras room) with a Kingsizebed, 2 wardrobes and a shelf with alot of kids toys :-), 1 bedroom (Charlies room) with a Queensizebed, a chair and a cupboard with alot of kids toys and books. 1 Bathroom with Shower, 2 sinks and a toilet.

Please note that we have alot of storage for the toys and it does not have to look like a "daycareunit" during all of your stay! ;-)

Basement: 1 Familyroom with bedsofa, a table and a tv + stereo. 1 big LaundryRoom with 1 washingmachine and a dryer. 1 Bathroom with a Bathtub, sink and a toilet. Storageroom. Small Wine Cabinet.

Our house is absolutely non-smoking. And as we have a dog there might be problems for a person that is allergic to dogs to stay in our house.

Our house is located in Ã…lsten, Bromma - just outside the citycentre of Stockholm, Sweden. Ã…lsten is a very upscale neighborhood with houses mainly from the 1920s.

The house lies in a neighborhood perfect for families who wants to visit the Stockholmcity area and the archipelago but still wants the possibility to have the piece and quiet as in their own home... Our house is only 5 minutes walk from the water of lake Mälaren and we have a very nice, little beach very close to our house. There is a boatclub with a restaurant close by. The little centre of Ålsten (2 minutes walk) has several small, exclusive shops and a grocerystore as well as their own fishshop and charkuterie. We also have a pizzeria and the areas best bakery, Cafe Gateau who makes the Grand Blanc - a lovely bread for Sunday Brunch!

There are several playgrounds close to our house as well as a tenniscourt and soccerfield. A few stops with the subway or tram you can find an indoor swimmingpool and a big gym, SATS at Alvik.

To get into the citycentre of Stockholm you only go up our road (2 minutes) to the tramstation of Ã…lsten GÃ¥rd. Then take the tram to Alvik (5 minutes) and change to the subway that will take you into the citycentre of Stockholm in only 5 minutes more... We live in a perfect neighborhood that has the looking of a small town but still is so close to the vibrating city of Stockholm! You must try it - we are so happy living here and really love our house as well as the neigborhood!

We are a Swedish family of 4 - Carina 45 years/interior architect, Tomas 46 years/vice president of Swedens music licence company, Charlie 8 years/in school and with lots of interest in mathematics, drawing and soccer, Cara 5 years/in daycare with lots of interest in dolls, singing and dancing and finally Norris our 9,5 year old dobermann who is like a child himself - constantly playing around with the human kids :-) We are also very close to Carinas mother that lives only 5 minutes from our home and used to travel with us alot before her heart got tired...

We love to travel and always bring our kids along on our travels around the world - to travel is to explore and home is where memories are made! Norris, our dog, gets his vacation at a nearby doghotel outside Stockholm while we are away so you never need to worry about him! :-)

We are nice, responsible people who take very good care of our own home and would treat your home with the same responsibility! We are of course expecting our possible swaps to do the same for us. No smoking in our home!

We always love to visit the US and have been there about 10 times by now. Tomas also used to work in the US for 4 years, in the state of New Jersey and Carina lived in the Castelli Romani outside Rome, Italy for 1 year.

Other places we have visited is Canada, Thailand, Spain, Italy, Vatican State, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Monaco as well as all the Scandinavian countries such as Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland. We also owned a small apartment in Nice, France for 5 years and love to travel the country of France where we also have close friends...
