Enjoy gorgeous sunsets from the deck of this three story shingle style house nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Damariscotta, 35 feet from the water. This 20 yr old "cottage" offers 3 bedrooms (2 queen and 1 twin with trundle) and a loft with a full futon, sleeping 7-8 comfortably. There is a bath with a jacuzzi on the main floor a bath with shower on the lowest level. The great room has cathedral ceilings with skylights and a soaring fieldstone fireplace. French doors and oversized windows offer wonderful views of the lake. The lower level has a family room with pellet stove and third bedroom. We have wireless internet access and TV/DVD for movies but TV stations are limited to local channels. Situated at the end of a dirt road, the house offers exceptional privacy. Creature comforts include microwave, Jennaire cooktop, and washer/dryer. During the summer months, a dock is lakeside. There is a state park with a sandy beach, picnic tables and bath facilities at the top of the lake just 1. 5 miles from the house- an easy walk or bike/car ride.

Jefferson is 1. 5 hours north of Portland (closest international airport) just in from coastal Rt. 1. It is approximately 40 minutes from the picturesque towns of Rockland, Rockport and Camden on Penobscot Bay. Day trips to the ocean, lighthouses or mountains are easy as is the 1 hour drive to LLBean or other outlets in Freeport.

The lake is approx. 12 miles long with wonderful boating, water sports and fishing. Public launches are at various points on the lake. The summer months of July and August offer the best weather, the fall has wonderful colors and festivals, winter ice fishing and cross country skiing round out the seasons. Downhill skiing is about 1-3 hrs. away.

This is a second home for us so we have alot of flexibility with regard to the timing of an exchange.

We prefer non smokers and those traveling without pets. Children are welcome but the deck stairs and stairs to the water may be somewhat difficult for toddlers to maneuver independently.

We do not offer a car but rental agencies are close by and at the airport.

We would love to bring our granddaughters to the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Nov. 2014. A non-simultaneous exchange on the parade route would be ideal. Willing to offer a week in Maine for a long weekend (Wed-Sun) in NY.

Warm destinations in February/March; SW USA; easily tempted.

My husband and I are both professionals with 2 grown children and three granddaughters.

Our primary residence is in Rhode Island but we try to get to Jefferson as often as we can. It is truly a heavenly spot that we discovered about 25 years ago. We had the house built in 1990 and it really is a wonderful retreat. We have been exchanging successfully for about 10 years and we look forward to sharing this beautiful area of the country with others.
