Our Home
Our home is a pretty 16th-century cottage situated on the green in the picturesque village of Sedlescombe. There are four bedrooms (one en-suite) and a bathroom upstairs. Two of the rooms have a double bed, two are childrens rooms. We have also converted one of our attic rooms into an office. The kitchen has a gas oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. This opens up into a large conservatory and is used as a breakfast/day room. There are patio doors on to a paved patio leading into the surprisingly large garden. At the rear of the garden is a childrens play area with rope swings, tree house etc. The spacious lounge has an inglenook fireplace. We are set back from the road, with a long front garden and ample parking space for three cars.
Our Neighborhood
Sedlescombe is a typical English village with a village green, local pub (with garden) and village shop and post office. There is also a tea room and hotel/restaurant. We are surrounded by countryside and there are footpaths that lead you on walks around the village. We have two adult and one child's bike that you are welcome to use. The tennis courts are a minute's walk away and Sedlescombe golf club is just down the road. The area is of great historical interest. Battle with its abbey and the field on which the Battle of Hastings was fought in 1066 is three miles away. It is an attractive town with some good pubs and restaurants and some interesting speciality shops. The archetypal English castle at Bodiam is one of the National Trust's most popular sites and is just down the road from Sedlescombe. We are five miles from Hastings, which offers all the traditional English seaside attractions as well as sailing and watersports, a number of restaurants in the Old Town and the best fish and chips in the country! The harbour town of Rye with its cobbled streets is half an hour's drive away. A train journey of one hour 15 minutes takes you to London's Charing Cross station, which is located right by Trafalgar Square and the theatre district of Covent Garden and over the river from the London Eye and the South Bank.
An hour's drive will get you to Dover and ferry crossings to France. Alternatively you can get to Ashford International station in 45 minutes and be in Paris in two hours on the EuroStar.

Other Information
The area is very safe and quiet. It benefits from an excellent weather record for England.
As befits an English cottage, some of our ceilings are low. Be prepared to duck! Neither of us smokes so we would rather no one else smoked in our home.
Please follow the link to my on line photogallery which has photos of the house and area and photos of our previous exchanges to Brittany, Canada and Cyprus

About Us
Kay(43),Pete(58)and Natasha(13)and Olivia (8) Pete teaches at the secondary school in Battle and is the sporty one of the family, enjoying skiing, windsurfing, tennis and golf. Kay works from home as a freelance book editor. Natasha and Olivia are happy and well behaved girls and attend the local school. They loved our three exchanges and are very respectful of other people's homes. We now have a cat and for short exchanges would prefer to leave her unless that is a problem. For longer exchanges we would normally put her in a cattery.
