Our home is a very charming old mill with a beautiful waterwheel. The mill was built in the late 18th century, although parts of it had to be rebuilt after a fire in the early 20th century. There are four cozy and very unique rooms plus an 80m2 room under the roof. There is only one bedroom with a kingsize bed. However, there is another queen size bed in the large room upstairs, if your child or an additional person doesn't mind sleeping in an open loft-like room. We are not really equipped for small children. From the dining room and from our bureaus upstairs you can overview the pasture where cows are grazing with their calfs from early spring till late autumn. A terrace, vegetable garden and a running old fountain belong to our house. The house has a modern heating system and a small closed fire place in the large room upstairs, as well as a barbecue grill outside. We have wireless internet access. If you play the piano, we do have a piano as well. As this is a very old house, you shouldn't mind some crooked windows or floors with cracks or the odd mouse running between the walls (which we will try to catch before your arrival ;-)).

Suberg is a small and quiet village on the countryside, yet very close to Bern, the capital of Switzerland. There is great train connection to Bern every half hour (20 minutes ride to Bern) and to the city of Biel with its beautiful lake. In one hour you can reach the famous Berner Oberland (Interlaken, Skiing, Alp region) by car or public transportation. Zurich or Geneva you can reach in 1.5 hours, Lucerne in 2 hours.
Suberg is surrounded by fields and many small farming villages. The charming old town of Aarberg with some nice restaurants is close by. Suberg itself has only one but a very renowned restaurant.
For shops you have to go to the next village (easily reachable by car or train).

We didn't really dare to tick the skiing, mountains, galleries and theater boxes in the "local attractions" section, because that's not available right in our village... But really, in Switzerland everything is pretty local! As I mentioned above, you reach the mountains within an hour, so if you want to go skiing that is no problem at all, even if the slopes aren't right outside our doorstep! Galleries, museums, theater and shopping are all to be found in Berne, just 20 minutes away and again, nearly all the other major cities are reachable within 1.5 to 2 hours.

We are currently both working self-employed and are therefore rather flexible with the dates and are open to any suggestions at any time.
However:
Working on film projects, it is sometimes hard for us to plan ahead. But don't hesitate to ask us on short notice!
2011 and 2012 were very busy years for us and unfortunately we weren't able to get away too much... This should get better now, so please tempt us!

Open to any dates

We are open to any kind of suggestions. However, we prefer either big European cities, anything on the East or West coast of the USA, or places that are warm in winter or have great natural surroundings... but really, we'll consider any suggestions!

For Spring 2014 we are thinking about spending 2 weeks in the Sonoma or Napa Wine County in California. It would have to be during weeks 14-16 (29.3.-21.4.2014). We would be travelling with a good friend (41 years old) and his two daughters (11 and 9 years old).

We are a young couple, Kathrin 30 and Simon 34. Kathrin studied English and German Literature and Philosophy. Simon is an independant filmmaker. We enjoy literature, good food, films and gardening (although the latter is only Kathrin's passion :-). We don't have any pets but we do like cats and we wouldn't mind you bringing your dog.
