Our Home

Our home is a beautiful and very comfortable early Victorian five-bedroomed home located in Bristol, United Kingdom, arranged over four floors with five bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Please check our gallery of photographs for interiors and exteriors of the house and garden
and additional photos of interesting places to visit in the region. The garden is secluded and leafy and on three levels, it includes dining furniture, a barbeque, a clay oven and a lawn.

The photos were mostly taken around Christmas, so should you want to exchange at that time, we can decorate the house in advance for you. The garden is usually much leafier and more colourful in summer! We have a brand-new central heating boiler, so you will be very cosy here in the winter.
We have a laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer, dish washer, double oven, two fridges and freezer, use of wifi and a flat-screen cable TV with a supply of good quality DVDs.
Our cleaner comes once a week on Thursdays and will change beds and is happy to do any ironing.

The beds are all very comfortable and there are two dining rooms, a library and large drawing room with grand piano. We have three Victorian fire-places and the house is both elegant and cosy.

We are only 15 miles from the Georgian City of Bath, 90 minutes from London by train and an hour from many beautiful landscapes. For example, the Dorset, Devon and Cornish Coasts and the Gower peninsula and Welsh mountains are all located in the South West and neighbouring Wales, with Bristol and Cardiff (home to a fabulous new opera house) as it's two main cultural centres.
In addition we have a very smart Saab convertible in which to visit these places in our region.

We are only approximately one hour away from many beautiful Cotswold villages, 15th Century castles and numerous National Trust Stately Homes. This is a perfect base from which to see the best parts of England, and Wales. Although our local Bristol airport will fly you to Scotland and many, many European destinations including Paris France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey.

Our Neighborhood

We live on a wide, leafy, early Victorian road in an extremely desirable part of Bristol, with easy access to London via a local train five minutes from the house and then a straight-through train to Paddington Station which takes a little under an hour and a half. We are 15 miles from the Roman City of Bath, within easy reach of the beautiful mountains of Wales and the stunning beaches of Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. The South West of England boasts a concentration of the most National Trust Stately Homes to visit in the UK and we are members. Bristol is also the perfect base to visit some very historical and picturesque villages. Apart from the Georgian grandeur of Bath, look up Bourton-on-the-water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Biddeston and Corsham. One of the best English cream teas can be found at Bradford-upon-Avon just down the road. Within five minutes walk of our house we have the quaint shopping street of Cotham Hill, the busier Whiteladies Road with numerous restaurants, cafes and bars and elegant Clifton Village, with similar architecture to Bath, a bridge designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and various high-class independent shops and restaurants. If you are interested in brand shopping, a mile and a half down the road is Cabot Circus which boasts a Harvey Nichols, Hugo Boss, Ted Baker, and numerous brand clothing and eating outlets. The Director's Hall at the Cinema De Luxe serves you drinks and food whilst you watch the film and Durdham Down, 8 minutes walk from our house, is a large green area overlooking Clifton Suspension Bridge. Bristol is the home of the Old Vic Theatre and Bath has a Theatre Royal which premieres many London Productions these programmes will be provided in advance should you wish.
If you want to stay in we have a large collection of quality DVDs to choose from, or a large choice of music. We are also half an hour's drive away from Glastonbury and the 17th century stately home and film location, Dyrham Park. 15th century Corfe Castle and Dunster Castle are the same distance away. This is a truly beautiful, cultural and urbane part of England and many Londoner's are now choosing to live here.

Other Information

Even though we have a large five bedroomed house and love children, it is more appropriate that we offer it to adults only.

The house, because of its decor and contents, would not, I'm afraid, be very relaxing for the parents of teenagers and children.

About Us

My husband and I are in our fifties and sixties and very much enjoy beautiful surroundings, art, theatre, reading, listening to music, getting out in the countryside and travel. We feel that our best match would be a similar age couple with interests and tastes a little like our own. My husband is in the media and I am a psychotherapist.

We have a gentle, adorable and independent black and white cat (short-haired) named Toby who has his own cat-flap into our lovely garden and only needs feeding twice a day. We are very happy to look after a similarly independent animal. Should you wish to overnight in London or Paris for example, there is a trusted family member who can feed the cat whilst you're away.
