Our Home

Completely redesigned and renovated by me. I adapted for better functionality and a specially selected approval. The central house surrounded by 5 acres of meadow and 2 acres of chestnut and oak, was purchased by Grandfather to accommodate a large family of 6 children. He enlarges the property significantly. He manufactured handmade rakes and forks made of chestnut wood. Grandmother was a seamstress. Then Dad created a new workshop, garage and several new barns. He made handles of false of beech wood, worked the land with oxen and mules with. He raised dairy cows of the breed Savoyarde, with selected breeding bull for cows neighbors. He was also a grain grower and a distinguished winemaker. He was a pioneer in the village buying the first milking machine, the first car and the first agricultural tractor. We were five siblings to be born in this house to respectable dimensions of 40 meters x 20. Finally, after far removal for professional reasons in France and Africa, I took over the farm "Le Pailler du Bial" to assist elderly Mom. I redid the roof and I built a huge kennel and stables for horses. Subsequently, I transformed the kitchen, built a bathroom in a part of the large cellar. I installed central heating in 7 rooms. Note that recent developments, the house has therefore now on the floor, a large bedroom, a suite with a fully equipped office computer with Internet access and Wifi. And down, kitchen, lounge, washroom, bathroom and cellar. Thus, it can accommodate one couple of people. This restrictive use of a large building adapted to serve one person, with many outbuildings uninhabitable, is likely to cause problems if you plan to receive family and friends at home. Home exchange provides for an exchange of car. For technical reasons and as a result of excess unfortunately resulted in exorbitant mechanic notes paid by myself, I was taken to reduce the use of my vehicle in a radius of 350 km. For travel to beyond this limit, the use of the train is shown. In 2 hours and 15 minutes, the TGV high-speed train will take you to Paris.

Our Neighborhood

Montfalcon village is situated in the Isère department, in the Rhône –Alps region, in the south east of France. Montfalcon site is very old. The emblem is the kestrel, some of this birds of prey are still living in the ruin of the Feudal Castle dating from the XII Century, situated on top of the hill as a general survey of my home. Chambarands country is a vast plateau, wooded in places. There are many hiking trails. Several tens of them are in a collection you will find the tourist office at Roybon (5 km). Apart from these numerous possibilities, all dirt roads and farm forestry are open to visitors, the river banks are equally accessible to all.
Montfalcon is seating in central good micro climate, near the renown Côtes du Rhône vineyards.
We are pretty lucky to be sparing with hurricanes, cyclones, floods, droughts, earthquakes or volcanos.
Curiously, the weather is quite different it was 40 or 50 years before where we had big snow and ice.
The months of September and October are usually very sunny. There are a late season sometimes called Indian summer.
November and December can fully extend the dry weather with sumptuous multicolored landscapes. Christmas time is increasingly mild and without snow, sometimes curiously sunny.
The month of January can bring rainy mornings, or a few centimeters of snow, sometimes a simple pepper.
Against high mountain by the first snow may occur as early as mid November on the summits of the Alps. They often continue until Easter.
It rarely saves more than two consecutive days of rain. No one goes, however, not winter without ten days of bad weather. During the winter the nights are cool and sometimes cold. Temperatures rise dramatically at the onset of the sun.
As early as February, migratory birds are singing and are harbingers of spring, the budsare bursting at the seams, the animals find areas, farmers are agitated, with sleet and sometimes a final burst of cold.
March is the opening of trout fishing, with its parade of fishermen from several neighboring departments who compete. The Galaure is a beautiful greenish and rich river, just 400 meters in front of my house, in the first category considered.
This is the flowering season and a happy new births and outbreaks beginning sound. You know that the weather can be changeable; layered clothing is recommended.
The Chambarands wooded massif is home to a varied flora of high quality, and a precious avifauna. You will enjoy all outdoor activities in the country.
On the other hand you have a wide variety of quality second to none of autumn fruits, wild mushrooms, sorbs, loquats, berries, chestnuts and blackberries. You can freely gather anywhere a basket of mushrooms per person each day in the woods and in the meadows. Nuts and apples of pure biological quality property are all intended for your personal use.
The Dauphiné region (Isère and Drôme departments) is renowned for its ancient cultural heritage. It is renowned for bringing a large number of prestigious castles in which the best welcome is for you especially as foreigners have historically received special attention towards them.
La Côte Saint-André town at 20 min, birthplace Hector Berlioz, is also in this charming city that my Grandfather was born.
Montfalcon is located in the heart of many tourist sites cultural architectural, museums, roman ruins, churches, folklore, concerts, cinemas, theatres, discos, nightclubs, cellars, circuses, libraries, varied sports complexes, hospitals and clinics.
The Dauphiné is also known as a picturesque privileged beautiful caves that were the site of tragic events unfortunately, especially during wars. Particularly as places to live during the Resistance.
The Chambarands are at the heart of a region producing an internationally famous cheese called "le Saint Marcellin," locally " la tome".
Roybon village is 5 min, where we can find main shops, farmer market each Monday morning, otherwise super markets are 15 min. Grenoble airport [GNB] is 20 min away, Lyon international airport [LYS] is 1 hour 20, 3 different highways access are within 25 min. Grenoble City 1 hour, Lyon City 1 h 15. Geneva, 2 h10, Mediterraneen beaches 3 h. Paris by fast train is 2h10 from Valence station 40 min from home. You book cheap Internet a secure parking space at Valence TGV station.
Vercors ski slopes are 1 hour 30 away, and the inexhaustible ski resorts of the Alps is 1 h 45 road.
My house seems and is alone, but I have many neigbors. I live alone in complete security. To the East is the very kind lady (100 meters), she lives with her lame mother. She can comes sometimes if you want to do the houshold work. She knows very well how to do. Her boy friend knows computers and speaks English a little bit. Montfalcon village is 1 km South West of my property. Then, my older sister who is a little town mayor 25km away, would be so happy to know you: their daughters, speaks very good English.

I want them to find in my house, in its dependencies and idyllic car use, the pleasure and heat that my ancestors knew so well share with their hosts.

About Us

I am single, just retired, in a good health. I do not smoke and consume no drug. I have no more pets at home (and no plants). Only meadows, also occupied by half a dozen cows in gestation belonging to a young neighbor, and only in summer, and you will not have to worry. My forest of chestnut and oak is one km as the crow flies. I hope you have someone to take care of your garden, because I am trained mechanic and I hate to spend time gardening tasks.
My being single, has allowed me to pursue this profound taste for travel. Eventually going teach at several French speaking institutions renowned Agricultural regions in the heart of agricultural or horticultural highest international specifications. Then the next level, engineering students of an Agricultural Technology Institute and finally as cooperating seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as responsible for the formation.
I am one of the few French international judges official Société Centrale Canine (Paris) for testing all types of working hounds, Eastern hunting hounds and field trials pointing dogs. Former “ Lieutenant de Louveterie”, Pointer expert, and red deer local specialist, I also like very much ornithology and non professional photography.
I have driving licenses for trucks and transport. Lately I've really enjoyed studying piloting single engine aircraft. Please feel free to ask any questions on anything I may have missed mentioning.
