Our Home
Our houseboat is a sturdy concrete munition ship, used in the second world war by the allied powers. It is big, very spacious and open (200 square meter) with 2 levels containing four bedrooms (one in the souterrain), a living room with sliding doors, a kitchen and a fitness room (souterrain). Though it is very near to the center of Amsterdam, the house boat is located next to a small forest. Loads of swimming and watersport possibilities from the boat. Rubberboats with outboard motor (nice for kids)and fishing gear available. There are 3 terraces (all around), with dining tables. Inside there is a newly build kitchen with an espressomachine, a dining table, and a cosy livingroom. There is an sailingboat optional with cabine and motor (for experienced sailors). We have cribs or extra beds available, depending on your needs.
The view, the garden, the feeling of living on water and the neighborhood make it the perfect place for your stay in Amsterdam.

Our Neighborhood
The houseboat is located in Amsterdam Nieuwendam on the canal, one of the most beautiful parts of Amsterdam. Wooden 'captain-houses' next to the IJ canal and a small harbour. Near the centre of the famous old city of Amsterdam and near the arterial road to Marken/Volendam and Edam. About 30 min(train or car)from the North Sea beach (Zandvoort). The old city centre is reached within 10 minutes by bus, which stops near to our house.
Our houseboat does not have any houses on or adjacent to it, which is very rare in urban amsterdam. This gives you the privacy you like, but the benefits of the city! You can park cars in front of our house for free and use it if you want to visit the surroundings of Amsterdam. We also have four citybikes ready for you (with child seats) for adults and children.
In front of our house is a small forest with a private, fenced playing ground. for bigger children there is a lot exploring to do in the forest or on the water (building tree huts, boating). The boats can bring you into town or towards nature, it is all up to you.
The water of the canal is of good quality and nice for a swim! We have a lot of life jackets in all sizes you can use. Besides, our house has protection on all windows to make it safe for little children (the reardeck in the picture is not fenced since we're in the process of renewing it)
