Our Neighborhood

We live in a very spacious home in the most stylish neighborhood of the City of Hartford, a place of Victorian architecture and tree-lined streets. Elizabeth Park, designed by the renowned landscape artist Frederick Law Olmsted, is only a five minute walk from the front door.

Within a 1 meter radius (in the other direction form Elizabeth Park) there are several good restaurants (Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian, Ethiopian), a market with fresh fish daily, a wine store, two schools with open playgrounds for the kids, a public soccer field, and the historic Mark Twain House (now a museum) where the famous American author lived and wrote for several for the last several decades of his life. It is a nice place, a neighborhood feel quite fortunate to live in.

Our Dates

I am looking to to do two exchanges in the coming year.

The first is a short term (7-10 days) exchange in January to any of Lisbon, Minorca, Sardinia, Berlin, Istanbul or Tunisia (Carthage-Sidi Bou Said, Bizerte or Jerba).

The second would be for the month of July 2013 in either the Spanish or French Basque Country (including Bearn) or alternatively, French Catalonia, either on the mountain or the Coast. Also open to an exchange for this period in Sardinia, Sicily, Tunisia (especially the Mediterranean north) or the Turkish Coast.

Non simultaneous exchanges are also very possible as the house may very well be available this year October-December. October is a fantastic time in New England with the brilliant Fall colors.

About Us

I am a single college professor with three children (20,18,and 16). The oldest two will probably not be traveling with me this summer as they will be working in the US to earn money in preparation for University.

We have all have traveled quite a bit, especially in the Iberian Peninsula and South America. all three are thoughtful, well-behaved young people with a great deal of curiosity about the world. They feel especially comfortable in the Iberian Peninsula and the Southern Cone as all three studied in those places school as elementary school students.

Engaging in, and encouraging cultural exchange is perhaps the most persistently pursued goal of both my personal and professional lives. I see home exchanging as being a way to further enrich the life of my family.
