Our Home
A spacious 1930s detached home of character. The South facing garden is well maintained with orchard and vegetable garden, there are lawns to relax on and an outdoor full size heated swimming pool. Inside there are 4 double bedrooms, 2 with ensuite showers and a family bathroom. The kitchen is large enough to eat in but there is also a formal dining room and snack table in the conservatory. Off the kitchen is a utility room with washer and drier. The gracious sitting room has an open log burning fire usually only for use in winter time. There is also a small snug/family room with TV DVD etc. There is a study with wired/wireless internet connection - for your own lap top.

Our Neighborhood
The house is about 5 minutes walk to the historical village of Buckden which dates back to the 10th century when Bishop Hugh built Buckden Palace. This was subsequently used by King Henry VIII to imprison Catherine of Aragon. It is now the home of the Claretian monks but open to visitors. The village is a thriving community of 3000 people with schools, shops, two excellent coaching inns for good local dining. There are also 3 active churches, Anglican, Methodist and Roman Catholic. There are excellent road links to towns and cities both to the North and South. The nearby railway station in St Neots provides mainline trains to London (45 minutes) and Peterborough (15 mins) where there are connecting trains to York (2 hours), Edinburgh (4 hours). Flights to many cities in Europe are available from Stansted and Luton airports both less than an hour's drive away.

About Us
Irena and Peter have lived in this house for 20 years. Peter is a retired Royal Air Force officer and is now a part-time bursar at one of the Cambridge University colleges. Irena teaches English part-time at the same college. We have travelled extensively both professionally and for holidays and enjoy the excitement of new places and meeting new people. We like music and the theatre, we enjoy gardening. We enjoyed a very successful home exchange to Cape Cod some years ago and more recently to Long Island are now excited at the prospect of new adventures. As we are semi-retired we are not tied to school or university vacation times.
