Our Home
We live in a large semi-attached townhouse in a central, yet green area of Brussels. Our home dates from 1928 though we renovated 3 years ago in a contemporary fashion. Our main floor consists of an open plan kitchen, living room and dining room as well as a wc. The kitchen has new appliances and opens onto a terrace which is lovely for dining in spring and summer. The TV is also on the main level. On the 2 upper floors we have 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. Each of the bedrooms sleeps 2 people (one room has a large bed, one has a queen sofa bed and a crib, one has a double bed, and 2 of the bedrooms are children's rooms with a single bed and a trundle). We also have a lower level with a coat room, wc and playroom which opens onto a lovely garden. The garden is home to a much-adored large play set. We have wood floors throughout the house. In general our home is family friendly as we have 3 children. We do have two cats who require a bit of care. They spend quite a lot of time outdoor and are very friendly.

Our Neighborhood
Brussels is a vibrant yet manageable city at the heart of Europe. The grand place, sablon, palais des beaux arts, horta museum, park cinquantinaire and walking tour of art nouveau sites are just a few of the attractions. Visitors will eat tasty mussels, french fries, chocolates and drink trappist or rasberry beer! In addition, Brussels is known for its fine dining. Trendy Antwerp, stunning Bruges, interesting Ghent and the spectacular Belgian coast (great for bike riding) are all a short trip away. Brussels is a great launching pad for seeing central Europe. Many major cities are a short train ride away (Paris app 1 hr 20, London app. 2 hr 40, Amsterdam and Cologne).
We live in an upscale and green neighborhood close to many parks (the central park called the bois de la cambre is a few blocks away) and shops (including a big grocery store and one of the best chocolate shops in Belgium - Mary). There is plenty to do in walking distance and we are close to many buses and trams going directly into the center or to the train stations.
