Our Home

Our house is in a great location in central London with good transport links to all London has to offer. It is less than 7 minutes walk to Chalk Farm underground and regular buses are also available at the end of the street.

The house has two spacious double bedrooms with queen sized beds and one smaller bedroom, currently used as a nursery, but would fit blow up double mattress (supplied) if necessary. It has two bathrooms with showers and a separate toilet. On the ground floor there is a large living room which extends into a kitchen with a table that can readily sit 8 people. There is a large (by London standards!) back garden with decking and BBQ at the rear. Central heating, washing machine, dishwasher, plenty of spare linen and towels. We have a 13 month old baby boy and so nursery items such as cot, high hair and bumbo are available to be used.

Please note, I'm afraid we are NOT available to exchange during the Olympics or at Christmas time 2012.

Our Neighborhood

The house is in a quiet cul de sac off Malden Road, Kentish Town, Central London, UK and is less than 7 minutes walk from Chalk Farm, which is a zone 1 London Underground station. It is therefore less than 45 minutes (by public transport) (or 15 in a taxi) from almost all the considerable attractions of central London and less than that to most of them. In the immediate area, it is less than 10 minutes walk from Primrose Hill which, as well as the hill itself (which offers some of the best views over London) has a wonderful selection of fine restaurants and bars . In addition, the house is less than 20 minutes walk from Hampstead, Hampstead Heath and Belsize Park, which also offer great bars and restaurants. There are 2 supermarkets within 7 minutes walk and 5 within 15 minutes walk. The roundhouse performance venue and 173 Gallery are within 5 minutes walk.

Other Information

There is no car with the house, but to get around Central London, it is easier without one! given the excellent public transport, taxis and the fact that driving and parking costs a lot in central London. You can though hire a car (by the hour! or for longer) in London.

We have a cleaning lady who comes once a week.

The neighbours in our street are lovely and may be able to help with any queries.

We have detailed house notes (as family and friends have recently done house-sitting for us).

We would be delighted to make suggestions fitting your criteria for whatever you wanted to do in London to have a great time.

Our Destinations

Please note, we are sorry but we are not available to exchange during the Olympics or at Christmas time 2012.
Also, with a little one, we are only looking to exchange within Europe.

We would ideally like to exchange in Provence or South of France during June-July 2012 - in particular, lavender season!

About Us

James (39) works as a banker in the City in London and Joanna (36) is a film lawyer who is currently looking after our 13 month old baby boy Michael. We are interested in travel, film, theatre, gardening and sport. We play tennis most weekends at Regents Park which is also nearby. We are currently enjoying the adventures of new parent hood! but still like a good dinner party and have had many great times in the kitchen/conservatory area - as well as some very competitive games nights! We really enjoy living in London - there are always so many interesting things to see and do and new corners to discover.
No pets but the local squirrels always keep guests entertained!
