Our direct beachfront home is located in the tropical North Shore beach town of Punalu'u, on the island of Oahu. The beach you are seeing in the photos is the beach in our backyard. The house is air-conditioned, with three bedrooms, two baths. Walk out of your backyard and step onto a beautiful white sand beach any time you feel like a swim, snorkeling or stroll along the shore. The views from our home and backyard are so beautiful that artists often paint them.

The ocean waters of Punaluu are a vibrant turquoise blue. The extensive reef ecosystem surrounding Punalu`u is great for snorkeling. The off-shore reef system fronting our beach offers an abundance of colorful fish, turtles and reef life. You will have the use of a fully-equipped ocean kayak, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, beach chairs, lounge chairs, beach towels, an after-swim shower, and shore fishing equipment.

The home is equipped with a satellite security system. We provide 3 TVs, secure wi-fi and VOIP telephone service. There is gated on-site parking for 2 vehicles. We have an on-call maid that will provide you with additional housekeeping services at a reasonable fee if desired. We do not allow indoor smoking but guests are welcome to smoke outside on our covered lanai. We welcome families with children. We can provide a port-a-crib and high-chair (upon request) if you are traveling with a baby. The master bedroom with king-size bed has ocean views and an en-suite bathroom. The two additional bedrooms both have twin beds and share the 2nd bath. We can make two of the twins into a king upon request. We have no pets and plant care is not necessary as we have scheduled gardening service.

I enjoy cooking and entertaining so you will find a very well-equipped kitchen.

We may be able to offer a car (Subaru Outback AWD) in exchange for your car (European exchange destinations only).

Punaluu is a lush, tropical beach community along the northeastern coastline of the main Hawaiian island of Oahu. There are resort golf courses, day spa services and fine dining nearby at Turtle Bay Resort.

Punaluu is the least populated beach community along the northeastern shoreline of Oahu, located 45 minutes from the main city of Honolulu. It is friendly, laid-back and beautiful. If you are hoping for a neighbor island-type experience, away from the busy city of Honolulu but still on the most interesting island (Oahu) then Punaluu is a great choice. It is reminiscent of the old-style Hawaii that many hope to experience. We love to cook so you will find a very well equipped kitchen. We provide lots of beach towels, beach chairs and 5 comfortable outdoor rocking chairs. There is a large covered lanai with a dining set and gas or charcoal BBQs.

Ours is a year-around white sand swimming beach, right in your backyard. We are on the north-eastern coast of Oahu so even when the waves are 30-40 feet around Oahu's northern corner at Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and Pipeline, you'll still be able to swim off our backyard beach. Our beaches are reef protected and do not receive the huge swells that the true north shore of will Oahu experience. However, if you are hoping for some huge surf, Pipeline and Sunset Beach are only a 20 minute drive north. We have seasonal whale watching from the back yard (best viewing months are February and March into early April).

Punaluu, on the main island of Oahu, provides the best of both worlds. The shopping, excitement, entertainment and great dining of Honolulu and Waikiki are a short drive away. The best part is returning afterwards to Punaluu. We believe guests will love our laid-back country lifestyle and tropical island beachfront experience. The views of the ocean and mountains are often photographed and painted by local artists.

We will provide in/out house cleaning service and would request that the same be provided for our part of the exchange.

Additional maid service can be arranged upon request.

We do not need a simultaneous exchange, this is a 2nd home. I also have a studio condo that is perfect for one or two and is located adjacent to the same beachfront location. Please see the link on this page to my second listing.

I do not offer my beach house property for exchange during the Christmas holidays or summer months.

We are especially seeking similar/comparable beachfront/oceanfront exchanges. We are open to exchanges to neighboring Hawaiian Islands and the West Coast of California.

If you have an exchange in the California beach and wine country areas we would be interested so please make us an offer. We are also interested in exchanging to Catalina Island.

We receive many requests for Canada, Australia, Colorado, Oregon and Washington State. It's best to know that we are not currently looking for an exchange to these areas.

We do not ski so are not looking for winter season, high altitude or snow country exchanges. We will exchange to ski areas for our other property... please check that listing to see if you are interested.

We are working on a European exchange for late spring/early summer and late summer/early fall of 2014 and would like to add to our itinerary. We will be exchanging to southern Italy and will consider adding another destination so please make us an offer.

It may be helpful for potential exchangers to know that we are not interested in high altitudes, cold climates or any exchanges to snowy areas. Having grown up in Hawaii and spending much of my life in tropical, warm climates, I'm not keen on traveling to cold or snowy climates these days. However... please check out our 2nd Punaluu exchange if you are traveling as a single or couple, want to travel during summer months or Christmas holidays, or have a ski/snow country exchange.
