| With the Rocky Mountains as your backdrop and 300 days of annual sunshine, Denver, dubbed the Mile High City, makes an unforgettable destination. From contemporary cityscapes to outdoor settings amidst ancient boulders, Denver is a central spot to visit the Rocky Mountains. Visit any of the hundreds of museums and galleries that make Denver the Arts Capital of the West. Take advantage of the Elitch's Amusement Park or Water World to cool off on hot days. Walk to the Denver Aquarium or to Commons Park.
The climate is continental therefore summers are hot but since Denver is at 1500m of altitude, the nights are cool. The average temperature in June is 28C (83F) for the day and 9C (49F) at night. In July the average temperature is 31C (88F)during the day and 13C (55F) at night.
A couple of hours away, you can enjoy the nature and wildlife of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Denver is a central location to view the South West. Side trips can be taken to The Sand Dunes National Park which is 5 hours away or Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park that are 6 hours away. Mount Rushmore and the Black Lands are 6 hours away as well. Yellowstone is an 8 hour car ride. If you enjoy rafting, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, and all the mountain activities, a half hour will take you there. July is the time of the Frontier Days in Wyoming (2 hours away) where you can enjoy real rodeo and cowboys festivities. |

| Our first priority is to have an accessible home or apartment for my daughter Sam to be able to get easily into and out of. She is wheelchair confined and so can't have any stairs into one of the entrances and must have a large bathroom (atleast 26" wide door) in which to wheel into as well as a first floor bedroom. Our home in Denver is totally wheelchair accessible and has an elevator to the basement level. We would prefer a lovely country type home in Burgandy or Provence or Paris in France but would also love Sicily,Italy. It might be easier for Sam to navigate in her power wheelchair in a city as opposed to the country. |
